5 out of 5 stars first backpack   September 2, 2010

I am by no means a regular on the hiking trails, but I've been getting a little more outdoorsy lately, and since this backpack was for my first hike in about ten years, I didn't want (or have the budget for) a 200+ dollar bag. I have nothing but good things to say about this bag, I didn't have a single problem with it. I had over forty pounds of gear and food stuffed into it, and while I doubt I could've gotten anything else into it, it held up perfectly. No zipper issues, no bursting seams, no broken buckles. I would quickly recommend this to friends.

4 out of 5 stars Good pack, great value   August 12, 2010

I was a little skeptical given the price of this bag, but I have to say I took it out for a 30 mile hike two weekends ago and it was tremendous. Held everything I needed, was comfortable, held up well and exceeded my expectations.

I am a fairly big guy, 5'11" 215, and it fit perfectly giving me no stress when packed to the tilt. My only slight complaint is it didn't seem to hold as much as the 5400 led me to believe, but again it was perfect for a 3 day trip in the woods.

I definitely recommend this bag.

2 out of 5 stars Pack broke before use. Customer service non-existant   August 9, 2010

Had a clip break before I even put the pack on my back (tightening the top straps to secure my sleeping bag). Hopefully the customer service is good with the lifetime warantly. Zippers are hard to deal with as others have mentioned, but are only an annoyance and definitely not a deal breaker. Would have loved a pocket for a water bladder. Other than that, it was roomy and packed well. Also, beware the shipping costs on this item. What was a great deal became only a good deal after shipping costs (almost half the price of the pack). Good deal for light campers who will only use it a couple times a year. Not sure it would keep up with the weekend warriors.

Update: I have spent two weeks trying to get in touch with Cuscus to resolve the broken strap issue. Although they advertise a lifetime warranty on the product I have found that contacting the company is impossible. I have left various messages which have not been addressed or returned by anyone. I have not been able to speak to anyone to this point. Ridiculous.

this back is made OK no issues, what is a problem is the fact the suspension system is not that great. It will adjust which is good BUT it is very hard to get the wight off your shoulders with the way the waist belt is made the lumber pad does not work at all it is just a lower back pad not really helping I just walked with it for an hour with 30 lbs in it OK will not kill me the TETON Sports Explorer 4000 Internal Frame Backpack same price range is much much better

4 out of 5 stars Awesome bag for the money!   June 12, 2010

We originally bought very expnsive backpacks for our trip to Europe from an outdoor store and quickly returned them when we saw this one online. It was 1/3 the price and ended up working out very well.
