Amazon.com Product Description
Harness your dog's pent-up energy to bring your pet supplies or extra gear to the campsite with the Pine Creek dog backpack. The backpack--which is actually a pair of saddlebags that rest over your dog's back--is made of a lightweight material with poly fleece inner surfaces, keeping your dog comfortable and the pack stable on extended trips and hikes. Your dog will enjoy additional comfort via the pack's breathable back panel, which eliminates hot spots and chaffing. And when you're on the trail, the pack holds quite a bit of gear, including dog bowls, food, waste bags, toiletries, extra socks, and other items. The gear is secured safely inside your bag thanks to the large zippered side pockets.

The dog backpack--which includes an integrated ring that attaches to a leash--easily adjusts to provide a custom fit for your dog's shape. The pack is designed for dogs weighing between 40 and 90 pounds and fits girths up to roughly 34 to 35 inches. This backpack is not recommended for shorter breeds, such as Boxers.

5 out of 5 stars dog backpack   August 31, 2010
Paul
Great little backpack for the money. We use it for taking the dog on short walks every morning. We put in a 16 oz. bottle of water on each side, and the dog thinks he is completing a "task" by carrying the water for us. (he is a working dog - border collie cross) He is much calmer now, and not so prone to getting agitated or insecure. The pack is constructed adequately for this type of use; if we were going to take him on long hikes, we would purchase a heavier-duty pack for 3 or 4 times the money, but then I have my reservations about taking dogs on long hikes, anyway. If your usage is light and/or occasional, you can't beat this one for the money.

4 out of 5 stars We love our husky   July 26, 2010

We have a 45lb Siberian husky, and I think it works great for her. There are adjustable straps on top and front which work great. I had to spend a few minutes adjusting them, but it wasn't difficult. There is padding in the front between the strap and the dog, so the front strap won't rub the dog's neck. I would recommend this to anyone with a medium to large size working dog. My only issue is the belly strap doesn't have padding as well, but I just keep it loose.

5 out of 5 stars Great Energy Drainer!   July 20, 2010
Apollo
I bought this Doggie Backpack after the original one I bought at Petsmart unraveled at the seams after the first use! I purchased this one because of all the great reviews, and I'm so glad I did! We weren't always in the mood to take our lab for long walks to drain his energy, and now, this pack along with a bottled water in each side does the trick! He's tried in half the time. This is a must for high-energy working dogs.

4 out of 5 stars What a difference!   June 11, 2010

I've only had the dog backpack for a couple of days now, but my pit bull mix loves wearing it and definitely tires out a lot faster when she goes for walks with it on!

I'm usually struggling to keep her by my side instead of walking ahead of me due to her natural faster pace and with the backpack she walks right next to me, if not a little behind me. It's making a huge difference. I was also able to take her for a run while she was wearing it and she got worn out before I did!

So far I've put 2 water bottles on each side of the pack and it's been great. I may take some of the weight out on our next run so she can have more endurance to keep up with me though.

The backpack itself is great, I also cut the end of it after I got it sized for her properly so that it's not dragging on the ground. The pack does have her fur all over it pretty quickly, but that was bound to happen. Overall good quality product for the price!

After seeing this idea on the "Dog Whisperer", we decided to purchase one for our loving pitbull, Daddy (named after the show's pitbull). It was a little tricky to put on the first time but he has gotten used to it & it has helped a lot in our walks. The front latch that's in front of his neck is a little long but we've managed to hold it with a safety pin. We didn't want to cut it because he could get wider.
